How to Write and Opinion for This Wikithon?
These guidelines can serve as a direction for you in drafting your opinion piece. You may answer the following questions to make your opinion more structured, not only describing reality, but also proposing concrete collective actions.
In your opinion, why is a degree alone not enough to guarantee you a job today? (±100 words)
Explain the main problems, causes, and effects you have seen or experienced when seeking job opportunities. For example: graduate unemployment, skills mismatch, or demands for prior work experience. Who is most affected by the condition of “a degree is not enough”? Include a short example with supporting data to strengthen your argument.- If a degree is not enough, what concrete actions can you take to remain relevant in the job market? (±100 words)
Describe specific, realistic solutions you or your peers can take, such as what courses to join (mention specifically), building a portfolio, what kind of internship to pursue, or starting a small business. Share short, realistic steps. You may also include government programs (e.g., training from Vocational Training Centers/BLK) that are already in place but may not have yielded the expected results. - Who can you collaborate with to support your concrete actions, and what support do you need from them to realize your creative solution? (±80 words)
Mention the parties who can be involved (government, communities, MSMEs, peers) and the type of support needed (training, facilities, funding). - What positive changes do you expect after implementing your concrete actions? (±90 words)
The positive changes should refer to the impact you experience after carrying out the concrete solutions you proposed. These positive outcomes can include improvements in skills, experience, networks/contacts, business or job opportunities, and other aspects. Please explain. - If you only had one sentence to encourage other young people, what would you say to keep them from losing hope in a situation where a degree alone is not enough to secure a job? (±60–70 words). Write a motivational or persuasive sentence that is strong, simple, and leaves a lasting impression.
