1. Provisions of the Submission

Every uploaded writing entry must meet the following standardization criteria to be considered valid by the system.

  • The length of the writing is a minimum of one paragraph consisting of at least three sentences;
  • The main language used is Balinese (it is allowed to use basa andap/lumrah [common/everyday language], basa alus [formal language], or the dialect of the respective regency/city);
  • Translations into Indonesian and English are optional (not mandatory for participants to fill in).
  • The content of the work relates to the topic “Bali Stories Today” or “Tutur Bali Jani“.
2. Absolute Prohibitions & Originality Rules
  • The work must be the original and authentic thought of the student;
  • Strictly forbidden to use Generative AI in the creation of the work;
  • Forbidden to copy-paste from the internet, commit mass plagiarism, or imitate the work of other participants;
  • The work must not contain SARA conflict (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Inter-group relations), pornography, hate speech, or content that violates social norms.

The judging process is carried out with a two-stage filtering system as follows.

Stage 1: Work Eligibility Validation

Before the work enters the judges’ assessment table, the committee will perform a validation to filter for valid works. Works that do not pass this stage will be immediately annulled from the total accumulated count of participants.

(i) Minimum Limit Check

  • Participants must upload a minimum of ten works in the “Tutur Bali Jani” shelf. If there are fewer than ten works, the participant is automatically disqualified from the individual winner category.

(ii) Structure Check

  • The work consists of a minimum of one paragraph (three sentences) and contains a theme related to the public issue you are interested in.

(iii) Language Filter

  • The work must predominantly use Balinese language (alus, andap, or dialect). Works that purely use other languages without Balinese text will be immediately annulled.

Stage 2: Assessment of Work Quantity and Quality

At this stage, an assessment of the quantity and quality of the participants’ works that passed the work eligibility validation stage is carried out. The assessment points for work quality are as follows.

(i) Originality and Authenticity (40%)
  • The work is the student’s original thought;
  • Not the result of AI or mass copy-paste from the internet.
(ii) Structural Accuracy & Language Usage (30%)
  • Appropriateness of the chosen language level (anggah-ungguhing basa Bali), whether basa andap or basa alus;
  • The use of unique vocabulary will be an additional point;
  • Neatness of Balinese spelling in paragraph form (minimum one paragraph per work).
(iii) Uniqueness and Appeal of Work Theme (30%)
  • Raises a topic or viewpoint that is unique, unusual, and captivating.

*Tie Condition (Tie-Breaker): If two or more participants have the same number of works, the determination of the order in the database is absolutely based on the upload time (timestamp) of the last valid work.
